About the Artist
A Native Oklahoman, the award-winning Cherokee artist Troy Jackson received an associate degree from Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma; a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma; and then completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In 2018, Jackson was awarded the honorary title of Cherokee National Treasure. The award is given in recognition of Cherokee artisans who have exhibited exceptional skill in Cherokee arts and crafts, as well as perpetuating and preserving Cherokee values.
