This year's design, by Cherokee citizen Buffalo Gouge, is a design based on personal rebirth. Just like the Phoenix, Buffalo is on a personal journey of coming back from the ashes - the ashes of addiction - and has used his recovery as inspiration for this beautiful design. For this 10th anniversary, limited edition t-shirt, Buffalo chose to have a prominent phoenix design filled with fiery colors and hopes to help be an inspiration for other addicts who are looking to rise out of the ashes themselves.
In the top ribbon, "Cherokee Phoenix" is written in syllabary and a Cherokee Phoenix newspaper logo is located on the left sleeve.
