Students will learn one of the most ancient of Cherokee art forms, twining natural fibers to make small bags and satchels for carrying personal items. By alternating strands of cordage on a hand held frame, a small bag/satchel will be formed. For the Cherokees, twining by hand with natural fibers dates back to pre-contact with Europeans. Students will learn the twining technique with hemp cordage and leave the class with their very own small bag to carry small items and/or cell phones. Our instructor for this class is Cherokee National Treasure and Cherokee speaker Betty Frogg.
