About the Artist
My name is Carolyn Swepston. I am a member of the Cherokee Nation and a TERO-certified vendor. I have been making baskets since 2018. I enjoy making turtle baskets and earrings, as well as holiday items. I initially started making baskets as a way to connect with others, and along the way, I have formed some wonderful friendships. I am a lifelong resident of Adair County, where I share a home in Rocky Mountain with my husband and our two sons. I am a teacher at Cherokee Immersion Charter School. I enjoy sharing the language and the art of basketry with my students.
