About the Artist
Ja-Li-Si Gladd is a Cherokee Nation citizen and a resident of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Her family hails from the Nicut community in rural Sequoyah County. Growing up, Ja-Li-Si always enjoyed nature and the living creatures that inhabited it, often taking pictures of her observations for personal enjoyment. As an adult, she still finds solitude in the foothills of Green Country, Oklahoma, as well as the mountains and forests of North Carolina. Nature, like our tribal nations, is ever-evolving. Ja-Li-Si believes it’s vital to stop and reflect on the beautiful creation around us and remember our roots as strong indigenous people.
