About the Artist
I am a Cherokee artist born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and raised on a farm in Adair County. I have been creating art since grade school, when my art teachers recognized my talents and creativity and encouraged me to develop my skills to a higher level. I won many art awards and competitions in high school and took some art classes in college.
My love of art has led me down many career paths, including my current job as a design engineer and aerospace engineer for Cherokee Federal, where I have worked for the last 20 years. I paint now for the passion of creativity as a Cherokee artist. Due to having a full-time job, I am usually able to paint only five or six pieces a year. My inspiration comes from stories and tales that my Cherokee grandfather told me, as well as other Cherokee family members who had stories passed down to them through generations. I consider myself a visual storyteller on canvas.
