About the Artist
Kristy is a Cherokee Nation citizen who resides in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Using some of the same techniques as her ancestors, Kristy creates Cherokee double-walled baskets with a modern flair. She loves to incorporate her own style and lots of color into them. Mostly self-taught, except for an occasional lesson from her stepdaughter, Talisha Lewallen, Kristy makes baskets using commercial reed and dye. She likes to share her art with other people, and she often can be found selling baskets at local markets.
