This is a sweet grass fancy basket made with sweet grass, dyed and undyed splints of black ash. This basket reminds me of the baskets that my grandmother and her generation made in the traditional style.

About the Artist
I'm Mohawk from Akwesasne and still live here with my family. I have been making baskets since 2016, when I learned from my mother. My daughter was organizing a pow-wow at her university and asked me and my mother to set up to sell our baskets. Since then, I've started attending art markets to sell my baskets, and I've entered art competitions.
