About the Artist
Drawing and painting have always been something I “had” to do. However, I didn’t become serious about educating myself on composition, form, color, etc., until I was in my 40s. I consider myself mostly self-taught but have taken numerous workshops over the years. In my 50s, I also took time out to complete a two-year graphic design course at OSU Okmulgee and worked 15 months as an art director for CPI Corporation in St. Louis. My first love is watercolor, but after discovering I could control and work with acrylics in a watercolor-like technique, I was hooked. In acrylics, my frequent subjects are animals, and my favorites are roosters, pigs, and cows. My favorite projects have been a series of faceless pow-wow participants and Cherokee Nation choir girls. My work can be purchased at The Spider Gallery in Tahlequah, Muskogee Art Guild in Muskogee, and Our Favorite Place in Eufaula.
