About the Artist
Although Cherokee Nation citizen Patrick Myers lives and works in Colorado, his family's roots go back generations in Oklahoma, where he has vivid memories of his relatives sharing their heritage and love of Cherokee and other tribal cultures and art. His father and grandmother were skilled in graphic art and painting, and Patrick eventually earned a master's degree in fine art. After years of creating landscapes and abstract paintings, he returned to his roots and now focuses primarily on figurative work related to Cherokee culture, as well as occasionally other tribes. Through painting and Native flute music, he seeks to honor the Creator, Unelanvhi (ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ), as well as Cherokee culture and heritage.
