Featuring the winning design of Cherokee Nation citizen John Henry, this year's shirt design focuses on the homecoming theme, incorporating imagery from the Phoenix and a deliberate rearranging of the familiar language associated with the national holiday.
“I wanted to just kind of change the words around a little bit and really reiterate to people that we’re coming home. We’re all out away from it sometimes, being out at large. Then we come in for the national holiday. I just wanted everybody to really feel that togetherness of coming home.” - John Henry
The design includes the phoenix landing on a seven-pointed star – a visual metaphor for returning to the homeland.
