The Cherokee people lost their homes, land, and lives due to the Indian Removal Act. Disastrous government policies almost wiped both the mighty bison and Native peoples from the face of the earth.

In this work of ink, the line of the Trail of Tears follows the shape of the back of a mighty bison. The eye of the buffalo is located at Tahlequah. The spirits of those who traveled the path can be seen peering out from the darkness, forming the tough bison hide and represents the lands through which they traveled.
