About the Artist
Troy Jackson, a Native Oklahoman and award-winning Cherokee artist, received an Associate degree from Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Then, he completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In 2018, Jackson was awarded the honorary position of Cherokee National Treasure. The award is given in recognition of Cherokee artisans who have exhibited exceptional skill in Cherokee arts and crafts, as well as perpetuating and preserving Cherokee values.
