Description
Dancers flow around the arena during the 158th Annual Winnebago Homecoming Celebration in Winnebago, Nebraska. After being removed from their homelands, the Winnebago used their own funds to purchase land from the Omaha Tribe for a reservation in 1865. The annual celebration has become a must-visit event for top dancers from across the country.

About the Artist
Z Long is a visual journalist and storyteller currently based in Omaha, Nebraska. The Cherokee Nation citizen tells indigenous stories through photography, videography and poetry. After a two-decade career in photojournalism, Long now works in the non-profit sector. Long strives to help keep tribal traditions alive through compelling, respectful and empathetic art. When not in Omaha, Long prefers to be in eastern Oklahoma on the Cherokee Nation Reservation, near their people and those who walked the trail before them.
